PlayShakespeare.com and The Shakespeare Society Join Forces
Bringing free podcasts to bard fans on iTunes, PlayShakespeare.com and Shakespeare Society’s sites

PlayShakespeare.com, in addition to producing it’s own podcasts, will collaborate with The Shakespeare Society on Shakespeare Talks. The programs, produced in New York City, feature interviews, seminars, workshops and backstage passes with noted Shakespearean experts, educators, directors and actors. The first of the series features an interview with author of The Shakespeare Wars, Ron Rosenbaum conducted by Davis McCallum. McCallum, who recently directed The Belle’s Stratagem at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, lives and works in New York.

“It's a wonderful alliance in the spirit of bringing quality content to the Shakespeare community,” said Ron Severdia of Mill Valley, founder of PlayShakespeare.com. “The PlayShakespeare.com team looks forward to even more exciting projects in the future.”

The Shakespeare Society is a non-profit organization that promotes Shakespeare and his works through seminars, workshops, and educational programs featuring stage performances by outstanding actors with illuminating commentary by noted Shakespearean writers, scholars, and directors. Its past participants include F. Murray Abraham, Stephen Greenblatt, Liev Schreiber, Patrick Stewart, Sir Peter Hall, Derek Jacobi, Philip Bosco, Marjorie Garber, Ralph Fiennes, and Claire Bloom.

Executive and Artistic Director of The Shakespeare Society, Michael Sexton shared, "We are so pleased to be embarking on this collaboration with PlayShakespeare.com. The two organizations' missions blend seamlessly, and these Podcasts will prove invaluable in our efforts to promote the understanding and enjoyment of Shakespeare's plays and poems."

Shakespeare Talks

In addition to the Shakespeare Talks discussion series, PlayShakespeare.com will be producing additional podcasts on every Shakespeare topic under the sun. The first episode is a recent reading and discussion of The Merchant of Venice by No Nude Men in San Francisco. Moderated by PlayShakespeare.com's very own Denise Battista, along with Peter S. Beagle and John Fisher, it's an eloquent discussion of hate, prejudice and marriage 400 years in the making.

PlayShakespeare.com Podcasts

The podcasts can be listened to directly on the PlayShakespeare.com and The Shakespeare Society Web sites, but you can subscribe directly in iTunes and automatically receive new podcasts as they become available.
